Firstly, considering the weather I'm going to have a look at the perfect coat.  I personally have a small fetish for coats and jackets, in my opinion nothing can distinctively make an outfit pop like a good coat.  Whether it would be a colourful, simple or functional coats seem to have their own personality and can really add that special touch to make you stand out.

These coats can range from a varied amount of styles, from Duffel, Trench or Mac, Pea, Bomber, Harrington, Overcoat etc. (I've intentionally missed out leather jackets as I want to cover them in a whole new section).  Naturally these will come in a variety of styles, colours, patterns and materials; giving each coat a unique feel.  If you don't already have one of these coats I suggest going with the iconic Mac or Trench - it goes with everything.  I think it such an easy iconic style item because it was designed for function during the 1st WW before trends came about.  It will immediately boost your style image, you can dress it up with a suit for work or down at the weekend with a pair of jeans and casual loafers; it's also a year round item, thin enough to layer in the Winter, waterproof for the wet and windy Spring/Autumn and light enough to throw on open buttoned during the Summer.  Colour wise, go for either black, navy or camel (my favourite) as the colour will blend nicely into any wardrobe palette.  The Mac is a style essential and should be in every man's attire so if you can, invest as much as you can afford for a designer label such as Burberry or Aquascutum.  Here's some of my top picks for The Mac.

How to style: the possibilities are endless with this, it is such a versatile item.  Don't be afraid to throw it on over anything you currently wear for an easy style upgrade but please respect the icon and don't wear it with hoody, you'll make us all look bad!  For a simple casual look wear it with chinos, an oxford shirt and cardigan with a pair of loafers or boat shoes.

This is a great weekend look for having a coffe round town or popping down the pub to meet some friends.  Wear the Mac open and tie the belt around the back for a more casual feel.  Individualise the look by adding accesories such as a necktie, bowtie or flat peak cap then add a belt to match the shoes and you're done!  (Topman Oxford Shirt/All Saints Growl Chino/Zara Moccasin/Burberry Mac)

Like I said, its easy to throw over any look to upgrade your style and remmeber fit is everything; it should be snug and clean accross your back to give you that great silloutte.  Hope you enjoyed my first post, more to come soon. RA
Welcome to my blog!  Firstly I'd like to explain my reasoning behind creating this blog; I was scouring the Internet trying to find a decent blog or modern guide to help the everyday man, like myself, with style.  Don't get me wrong, I found plenty out there, but some seem to simply take photos of new shoes that I could never afford or just follow catwalk fashion and as a man some of the looks were a little outlandish for me. So, I wanted a blog that the everyday man could have a quick look at, get some basic style ideas and possibly some advice on what to wear with one eye on future looks and to please my own obsession with fashion.

So here I am, my first blog!  I'm excited at the possibilities that could arise from this, it could, of course, go horribly wrong and I end up never posting anything (let's hope not!) but I'm feeling optimistic about getting down to it.  I look forward to posting and I hope you guys enjoy it too!
